Zimbabwe: Victoria Fall's airport set for redevelopment work

The international airport at Victoria Falls is set for major redevelopment work over the next few months, it has been confirmed.

Indeed, there are a number of facilities in the town, including the local hospital, that are due for refurbishment work ahead of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly, which is set to take place next year.

The ambitious infrastructure upgrades are costing the Zimbabwean government as much as US$6 million (£3.72 million), The Herald has reported.

Work on the new hospital is to be undertaken by a group of firms hailing from Bulawayo, one of the largest cities in Zimbabwe.

Such work is deemed necessary due to expansion growth in the area and the increased demand for services.

The work on the airport is set to lead to the expansion of the runway, as well as a new terminal and tower, which should ultimately improve the flow of goods in and out of the city.
