Samsung has announced it will be investing $140 million (£88 million) in Ghana and other areas of Africa over a five-year period, with the intention of improving ICT and telecommunications infrastructure.
The electronics manufacturer has already been established in the country for more than two decades, with a 35 per cent share of the nation's mobile phone market, the Daily Guide reports.
According to the company, the money will be used to establish factories and engineering schools, while boosting distribution capacity.
Managing director of Samsung Ghana Brovo Kim said: "We have - through a partnership with World Vision, a non-governmental organisation - began building an ICT learning centre for [the] Obuom community as our contribution to improve their livelihoods in this era of technology."
The announcement was made at a three-day celebration launched by the company dubbed 'Beautiful Ghana through the eyes of Samsung'.
Samsung recently revealed it will be supporting the Ghana Journalists Association's best journalist in innovation and technology reporting award, in order to promote the sector's relationship with ICT developments.
