Rwanda looks for investment for international airport

Investors are being sought to help Rwanda build a new international airport, as part of a transport infrastructure initiative.

The government is looking for bids for the Bugesera International Airport situated near its capital, Kigali, according to the Centre for Aviation.

It hopes investors will come forward so that work to design and build the travel hub can go head in time for it to be completed by 2016.

The news source has revealed that the government estimates the cost of the airport to total $350 million (£228 million), which is why it is looking for external investment to help the project come into fruition.

Another transport infrastructure has been planned for the country after Japan agreed to invest $24.2 million to build a bridge between the nation and Tanzania, Reuters reported.

The transport link, named the Rusumo bridge, will help boost trade between the east African countries and will take two years to build, Tanzania's finance minister Mustafa Mkulo told the news provider.
