Rwanda confirms ICT infrastructure plans

Cyrille Turatsinze, the permanent secretary at the ministry of local government UIN Rwanda, has announced that the government plans to improve the country's ICT infrastructure, Rwanda Focus has reported.

He explained that the government wants to see the delivery of ICT services improve throughout the country.

To this end, it has created an infrastructure map towards its long-term ambitions.

Indeed, the Rwandan government is set to enter the third phase of its five-year ICT plan, which focuses on the delivery of services.

The previous two centred on ICT literacy and the development of the country's technology infrastructure.

Already, the new technology infrastructure is being used in a number of sectors, including land registration and e-health, as well as mobile money transfers.

"In general, significant steps have already been made," reflected Mr Turatsinze.

He added that a campaign will be launched in May to make Rwandan citizens aware of the planned improvements and their potential benefits.
