Nigeria: Govt announces improvement to road network

The Nigerian government has revealed details of its long-term plans to improve the country's road network, Daily Trust reports.

According to the Sokoto State government, it is to construct a new border road at a cost of N4.5 billion (£17.8 million).

Added to this, Alhaji Nasiru Dantsoho, the state's Commissioner for Lands and Housing, confirmed that the council has agreed a contract for the construction of the Rundi- Katami -Silame road, which is around 37km long.

The Mandera-Dadinguru-Jabo, which will cost N900.7 million, is to be constructed, too, as is the Tambuwal-Romon Sarki road at the cost of more than N649.9 million.

Once the improvements are complete, Nigerian citizens should be able to see a tangible benefit to their lives as the work should ease the flow of people throughout the west African state.

Such improvements are key to the economic development of the country, according to the government, which is determined to unlock all of Nigeria's potential.
