The 8th Annual Meeting of the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) will be held on June 11th-13th, 2012 in Tunis, Tunisia and will gather ICA members, African stakeholders and other high level participants to discuss infrastructure investment and development in Africa.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Unlocking Private Investment for Clean and Renewable Energy in Africa’, with emphasis on clean and renewable energy in Africa, the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Energy projects and the PIDA Priority Action Plan (PAP).
As current chair of the G8, the United States will co-host the meeting with the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The ICA Annual Meeting consists of three separate meetings
1. ICA Members’ meeting on Monday, June 11th
2. African Stakeholders’ Meeting on Tuesday morning, June 12th
3. Plenary Meeting starts Tuesday afternoon, June 12th to Wednesday, June 13th

ICA Members’ Meeting
- ICA Strategic Guidance on G20 expansion, including implications and activities
- Update on ICA Activities in Energy, Transport, Water and Regional Infrastructure
- ICA Management, Budgeting and Reporting
- Update on ICA Knowledge Products and Knowledge Sharing
African Stakeholder’s Meeting
- Strengthening Regional Economic Communities’ capacity to implement PIDA-PAP
- Implementation of Institutional Architecture for Infrastructure Development in Africa (IAIDA)
Plenary sessions
- Unlocking private sector investment in support of clean and renewable energy development in Africa
- Recent innovative renewable energy initiatives in the private sector
- Fundamental enabling actions required to unlock the PIDA Energy PAP
- Project financing options needed to deliver the PIDA Energy PAP
ICA was launched at the G8 Gleneagles summit in 2005, with the mission to help improve the lives and economic well-being of Africans by supporting increased investment in infrastructure in Africa, from public and private sources.
ICA Members include the G8 governments (represented by their national development agencies), the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank Group, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and Development Bank of Southern Africa. In addition, ICA recently decided to extend membership to all G20 countries.
Membership on the African side is led by the AfDB, while the African Union Commission, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), and Regional Economic Communities participate as observers in ICA meetings.
