Finland to fund energy projects

The Observer: Now that Uganda has entered the Energy and Environment Partnership (EEP) with other southern and East African countries, aiming at boosting the use of renewable energies, Ugandans with creative and innovative renewable energy projects have a chance to access funding for their projects.

Richard Mugera, honorary consul of Finland, says Uganda becomes the 13th country to join the group.

“The partnership will bridge the gap between good ideas and bankable ideas. The funding will be provided for pilot studies and feasibility studies to develop these ideas,” he said.

To apply for the funds, private organizations will submit project proposals that will be vetted. To qualify for EEP support, projects should demonstrate a high sense of innovation in delivering energy services, facilitating technology transfer, encouraging cooperation and local stakeholders’ participation in projects.
