Launched in Johannesburg in November 2019 the latest IFT report shows infrastructure  financing in Africa reached  and all time high  of $100.8bn, 24% higher than in 2017, and passing the $100bn mark for the first time. However, even with this increase in commitments, Africa still faces an annual infrastructure financing gap of gap of $52bn to $92bn per year.
Experts from the ICA and sector specialists from the African Development Bank will:

  1. present findings from the Infrastructure Financing Trends in Africa (IFT) report, outline  regional and sector allocations of the infrastructure financing in 2018;
  2. explore the different sources of financing and identify sectoral challenges that persist, highlight investment opportunities, and
  3. explore ways towards attracting more funding for infrastructure throughout Africa.

The Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) is an initiative created by the G8 in 2006, with the mandate to increase the amount of public, private and public-private financing going to sustainable infrastructure projects in the transport, water and sanitation, energy, and ICT sectors in Africa. The ICA produces valuable data and analysis that can be extremely useful for project promoters and those seeking financing.
