Facility Objectives |
NEPAD-IPPF, a multi-donor Special Fund hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), supports African countries to prepare bankable regional infrastructure projects in energy, transport, ICT and trans-boundary water. Current donors include Canada, Germany, the UK, Spain, Norway and Denmark.
NEPAD-IPPF works to address the lack of investment-ready projects in Africa. Its 4 core strategic objectives are informed by the new Strategic Business Plan (SBP), 2016-2020 and are, to: - Increase the availability of viable well-prepared regional and continental infrastructure projects, by supporting project stakeholders to prepare high-quality projects;
- Enhance collaboration among project stakeholders and project financiers to facilitate the identification and mobilisation of project implementation financing;
- Enhance the financial sustainability of project preparation for regional infrastructure, by diversifying the sources and modalities of regional project preparation financing;
- Increase development impact of project preparation by mainstreaming climate change and adaptability; fragility and resilience; gender empowerment; and job creation and business linkages.

Public Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF)

Facility Objectives |
Established in 1999 as a joint initiative of the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom, the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) is a multi-donor technical assistance facility that is financed by 11 multilateral and bilateral donors. Working closely with and housed inside the World Bank Group, PPIAF is a catalyst for increasing private sector participation in emerging markets, enabling the public sector to attract private sector participation and investment in infrastructure. PPIAF’s mission is to help eliminate poverty and increase shared prosperity in developing countries by facilitating private sector involvement in infrastructure. |

SADC Project Preparation and Development Facility (PPDF)

Facility Objectives |
The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Project Preparation and Development Facility (PPDF) aims to assist SADC to address the implementation of the SADC Regional Infrastructure Development Master Plan (RIDMP), which will promote and contribute to enhancing regional economic integration in the SADC Region. The purpose of PPDF funding is to enhance sustainable economic growth and the delivery of key services affecting development in the SADC region, through addressing constraints to infrastructure development. The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) has been appointed by the SADC Secretariat as the implementation agent and fund manager for the PPDF. While the DBSA has responsibility for the administration, management and disbursement of PPDF funds, all financing decisions are taken by the SADC PPDF Steering Committee. |

Facility Objectives |
The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) is a multi-donor trust fund which promotes renewable energy and energy efficiency through private sector driven small- to medium-sized projects necessary to stimulate the continent’s transition to more inclusive and green growth. SEFA is funded by the governments of Denmark, Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom. The SEFA Secretariat is hosted by AfDB’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Department (PERN). |
