Zambia gets US$80 million for Kazungula Bridge

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has given Zambia US$80 million(about K408 billion) to construct the long-awaited Kazungula Bridge which has been on the drawing board for over 40 years.

The project scope is to replace the Zambezi River Pontoon which often inconveniences the public due to regular breakdowns.

The total cost for the construction of the bridge is estimated at $ 259.3 billion and is being co financed by AfDB, the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA), Government and other donors.

The bridge will link Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
