Samsung Ghana boosts interest in ICT projects with GJA

9 September 2011

Samsung Ghana is attempting to boost ICT infrastructure projects in the nation by supporting the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards.

The telecommunications company has announced it will partner with the GJA for the Best Journalist in Innovation and Technological Reporting category in order to boost the amount of coverage reporters give to ICT services in Ghana.

Managing director of Samsung Ghana Bangryong Kim said: "Samsung believe in developing innovative technologies and efficient processes that will help to create new markets [and] enrich people's lives."

He went on to state that "journalists have a key role to play in facilitating the achievement of this ambition".

President of the GJA Ransford Tetteh noted the importance of telecommunications, saying modern technology is overshadowing traditional media.

Mr Kim commented on the recent expansion of Samsung's ICT presence in Ghana, which is to be honoured at the Samsung Week Celebration, currently taking place in the country.

Telecoms infrastructure in South Africa could also see a boost after it was recently announced that information technology firm Paracon will join recruitment agency Adcorp.
