Business Daily - March 26, 2012
FESARTA is a 26 country body formed in the early 1990’s by several transport operators from Malawi, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and Tanzania with a view to address issues affecting the industry such as difficult permit conditions in road freight transport in the region, delays at border posts and disparate road traffic legislation that has pushed up the price of consumer goods to the end user.
Mr. Paul Maiyo, the Finance Director at Siginon Freight Limited becomes the first chairperson from the East African region to hold the position that has previously been a preserve for the southerners.
Mr. Maiyo also serves as the chairman for the Kenya Transporters Association (KTA).
