African countries have been urged to address policy issues likely to hinder trade, with renewed calls for removal of non-tariff barriers taking centre stage at an ongoing Intergovernmental authority on development infrastructure conference. The calls follow series of complaints by traders over delays at border posts owing to tedious checks by customs officials. This has in effect seen trucks ferrying cargo to various countries within the East African region and the Horn of Africa, experience long stays which has taken up the number of days for cargo to reach their destined markets.
