Ashish Thakkar launched his first company - buying and reselling computers - when he was 15 years old.
No, despite that boyish face, it that wasn´t last year - it was 1996, two years after he and his family fled the holocaust in Rwanda, moving to Uganda and settling in Dubai. Since then, Ashish has created a sprawling conglomerate of real estate, manufacturing and IT enterprises under Mara Group, which operates on four continents and in 26 countries.
His business and philanthropic interests have led him back to Africa - the focus of the Mara Foundation. Putting his technical expertise to good use, Ashish has created an online platform to enable would-be entrepreneurs to get in front of established enterprises, exposing them to mentorship, incubation and the possibilities of investment capital. You can imagine how it's scaling up.
