EAC conference "opportune time" for development
29 July 2009
The East African Community (EAC) Investment Forum will provide the opportunity for discussions over infrastructure development in the region.
Over three days representatives of business and government will convene to review corporate opportunities in the region, reports the Daily Nation.
This coincides with preparations for a common market protocol, making it a good time for leaders to assemble, according to EAC minister Amason Jeffah Kingi.
He commented: "This is an opportune time for the business people and policy makers to engage constructively. It is from this that policy makers can make decisions that guide the community."
He went on to add the forum would draw in resources for infrastructure development in East Africa, thereby boosting the status of the region.
The conference began on July 29th and will continue until July 31st, taking place in Nairobi in Kenya.
Among the participants are IT practitioners, development banks and potential exporters to the region, among many others.
An exhibition of products and services will be taking place alongside the event to showcase facilities available in the region.
