Algeria: More than 6,700 households receive access to gas in February and March

8 April 2010

More than 6,700 households across Algeria were connected to natural gas in the course of February and March 2010.

This announcement was made this week in a press release from the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines, reproduced by APS.

In order to meet the growing demand for energy, the length of the national gas transport network has been extended from 6,000 km at the end of 2005 to 10,000 km at the end of March 2010, being an increase of more than 66 percent, according to figures from the Sonelgaz Group.

It was also learned this week that the Total Group is prepared to invest 920 million Dollars in developing eight gas deposits in Timimoun, in Algeria.

The target is to go into production in the second half of 2013.
