ABEDA provides partial finance for road infrastructure project in Togo

26 April 2011

Last Monday in Lome, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (ABEDA) and Togo signed a financing agreement concerning a project to renovate road infrastructure in Togo.

The financing concerns a sum of 300,000 dollars, reports the Xinhua press agency.

The institutional support project for the Laboratoire national du bâtiment et des travaux publics (LNBTP) will provide the LNBTP with equipment and hardware to expand its capacities in the fields of testing, analyses, research, design and geotechnical surveys of the road works.

A policy of major road works was recently launched in Lome, the Togolese capital, by  the Togolese head of State Faure Gnassingbé.

The West African Development Bank has granted a loan of 11.2 million dollars for this purpose.

The ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank also granted a loan of 10 million USD, last January, for a project to renovate rural roads across Togo.
