Project Preparation Facilities Network to meet in June

11 May 2016

A meeting of the ICA-managed Project Preparation Facilities Network (PPFN) will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 7 and 8 June 2016.

A key objective of the meeting will be to reach a consensus on how Project Preparation Facilities (PPFs) can share information and knowledge about infrastructure projects to help enhance co-financing and collaboration.

Organised by the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) and hosted by the Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA), the PPFN meeting will be attended by all 16 member PPFs.

Launched in 2014 and managed through the ICA, the PPFN is a 'network' of funding facilities who function as an alliance dedicated to sustainable infrastructure in Africa. Members of the PPFN advocate for more financial resources for infrastructure project preparation and are committed to work together through the exchange and sharing of data, project pipeline information, case studies and best practice.

The PPFN last met in Abidjan in November 2015, as part of the ICA Annual Meeting. The Network agreed then to form four working groups to take forward key issues around: business models & sustainability; information sharing & best practice; operational modalities and governance & policy.

The Johannesburg meeting will hear back from these working groups and will consider what concrete action should be undertaken in these areas through the PPFN. The outcome of the meeting, and a progress report, will be presented to the 2016 ICA Annual Meeting later this year.
